Activity
Find a partner, create a 2 step problem and solve it with explanations of what and why you are doing it. It must be an original problem (not from the book or notes), Then show it to Mr. Couts.
Overview
Sometimes there are more than one variable in an equation, either on one side or both sides. To solve these you must follow the steps below:
- If necessary, expand any brackets and collect like terms.
- Use inverse operations to isolate the unknown on one side and maintain balance. Aim to be left with a positive unknown only on one side.
- Check that your solution satisfies the equation, i.e., LHS = RHS.
